Durga Puja in RT Nagar
Much like how Maharashtrians and Mumbaikars swear by Ganapati puja and
the 10 day cultural events surrounding it, the people in West Bengal,
Orissa, Bihar, Assam and Jharkhand love the festival of goddess Durga –
Durga Puja. The 6 days of festival sees a virtual shutdown of the
businesses in these parts of the country. And if you are a Bengali ,
Oriya , Assamese or anyone from the eastern parts of the country
residing away from your families and hometowns, you would be definitely
be missing the festivities and fervor of the Durga Puja.

The RT Nagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja Samiti organizes a durga puja whose scale, passion and celebrations can easily give even the best of the puja pandals of Kolkata a run for its money. The Samiti has been organizing this puja for last 5 years and has a full 6 day schedule which includes installation of the pandal, puja, cultural programs and finally visarjan ( or Bisarjan as the the bengalis would call it :)) in the Ulsoor lake, Bangalore.

As if the recent spate of hikes in the petrol prices are not enough, the common man is now having to deal with petrol stations ( or bunks in the namma Bengalooru lingo) who are trying to cheat people with smart ass techniques. Just goes to show that greed has no limits!!. The price hikes should mean that the petrol station owners earn more and yet they resort to cheap tactics to cheat people. Let me try to uncover the open cheating which takes place day and day out at the IBP petrol pump on the RT Nagar main Road
The filling station is a IBP (a subsidiary of Indian Oil) petrol station which must have been licensed to some politician or high profile person since the station is located on a plot belonging to MLA Layout, RT Nagar - the abode of the former Chief Ministers, MLAs, MPs and high court judges of Karnataka. I have been cheated by them atleast twice and want to caution others about this petrol station.

RabindraNath Tagore Nagar or RT Nagar as it is more popularly known as, is a residential cum commercial hub located in the northern part of Bengalooru. It is a part of Hebbal Assembly constituency and Bangalore North Lok Sabha Constituency. Originally the locality was a tiny layout built by Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) in the 1970s and was surrounded by villages like Gangenhalli on the west, the military campus on the east, Matadahalli by south and parts of Hebbal village by north. But close proximity to other high profile areas like Sadashivnagar and Dollar's colony (SanjayNagar) led to rapid development of the RT Nagar. Also setting up of a Head post office on RT Nagar main road provided further impetus to the growth of RT Nagar.
